Weekly Update – 6/17/19
There is a slight program change for our meeting this Wednesday. We’re still starting at 7:00, but our guest speaker, Assembly Member Kevin McCarty, will join us at 8:00. For the first part of our meeting, we have an excellent activity planned: writing postcards and letters for Swing Left to help win elections in Virginia this year.
So if you can join us at the normal time, you get to help out for a good cause. If you can’t make it until a little later, then please join us to chat with Sacramento’s most progressive state legislator. Either way, it’s a great way to spend a Wednesday evening! As usual, the meeting will be in Room 10 at Sierra2 Center, 2791 24th Street, Sacramento. Upcoming Events – June is a busy month! Sunday, June 23rd: This and every Sunday, Sacramento Mighty Oaks is sponsoring a postcard writing campaign to help influence state legislative elections. It’s held at the County Dem Party office at 1033 S Street from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26th: At 6:00 p.m., NorCal Resist presents a discussion about sponsoring and accompaniment for Transgender Asylum seekers. If you want to hear about how you can help some of the most vulnerable and persecuted people in the world today, please come out to First United Methodist Church, 2100 J Street. Wednesday, June 26th and Thursday, June 27th: Debate Watch Party! We all agree we want to kick Trump out of office. But do you know who you want to replace him? Mighty Oaks, OWL, Sister District, and Indivisible Sacramento are co-hosting a debate party both nights starting at 5:30 at Kupros Craft House 1217 21st Street upstairs. Sunday, June 30th: It’s time for Pizza and Politics. Our last Pizza and Politics event was a raging success, and this one should be great, too. Join us at Round Table at 1566 Howe Ave at 1:00 for some free pizza and drinks. Even better: we have an expert coming to train us how to text bank. We’ll all need to be experts at phone banking and text banking next year, so let’s get started now. |
About a year ago – Indivisible Sacramento had Holly Cooper as a guest speaker – about Trump Administration’s Detention of Children Seeking Asylum at the Southern border. Could we please invite her again.
