Weekly Update – 1/2/19

Hello Friends,

The news is still developing, but as of now it sounds like the Trump Administration has carried out an illegal assassination against an Iranian military official in a move that is almost perfectly designed to provoke a war.

We must take action immediately. Call your Members of Congress as soon as you read this. Demand that they speak out against starting a war with Iran, and ask them to introduce a resolution condemning this illegal assassination.

Rep. Doris Matsui – 916 498 5600
Rep. Ami Bera – 916 635 0505
Sen. Dianne Feinstein – 415 393 0707
Sen. Kamala Harris – 916 448 2787

The only way to truly ensure that Trump can’t start any wars is to throw him and all of his supporters out of office. We have an election to win this year. You can help by joining us on January 8th to write postcards to voters in the 50th Congressional District. It’s easy, fun, and a great chance to sharpen your skills for the campaign ahead! We’ll be at First United Methodist Church, 2100 J Street, from 7:00 – 9:00 on Wednesday, January 8th.

You can find out about postcard events and other opportunities to get involved at our website’s Events page.

350 Sacramento Candidate Forum

Finally, we must make sure we know where our local candidates stand on environmental issues. 350 Sacramento, the Sierra Club, and the Environmental Council of Sacramento are hosting a Candidate Forum for the open seat on the County Board of Supervisors. The battle against Global Warming is being waged at the local level, so let’s make sure we elect leaders who are committed to ending pollution. The candidate forum is on Wednesday, January 22nd from 6:00 – 7:30 at the Carmichael Library (5605 Marconi Ave).
