Weekly Update 8/17
In case you have not heard, we are moving our monthly meeting back one week – to August 26th. Our regularly-scheduled meeting would conflict with Democratic Convention speeches from former President Barack Obama and future Vice President Kamala Harris, and well, we just can’t compete with that!
So we’ll see you on Zoom next week. The meeting link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81738263806, and the meeting ID is 817 3826 3806. Our guest speaker is Jamie Carter, Director of Partnerships with DemCast. Hope you can join us!
Regina Banks Virtual House Party
If you still want to do a Zoom meeting this week, good news! Regina Banks, one of Indivisible Sacramento’s organizers, is running for the Elk Grove School District Board of Trustees. She’s holding a virtual house party on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. To attend, please register in advance here.
Convention Watch Party
After you visit with Regina, we recommend you join the 2020 Coalition’s online Convention Watch Party. We can’t watch together in person, but an online gathering is the next best thing. Former Vice President Biden should be speaking some time after 7:00 – so you really should have time to attend both events! Register here for the 2020 Coalition Watch Party.
Finally, a reminder to check our website’s Events page often. You can always find an opportunity to text voters, write postcards, or make phone calls to help win in November. For example, check out these opportunities:
- RECLAIM OUR VOTE PHONE BANK: Sundays, 1-2 pm: 2020 Coalition makes calls to voters in Southern States with Reclaim Our Vote to make sure they can exercise their right to vote. In the future, we may also be making calls for Senate candidates in North Carolina, Georgia and Texas. Can’t join us on Sundays? Reclaim Our Vote also has regular phone banking sessions throughout the week. Go to reclaimourvote.org to sign up and find a day and time that works for you.
- WEEKLY VIRTUAL PHONE BANKS FOR MICHIGAN: Join Sister District Sacramento to phone bank for its candidates for the Michigan State House. Real structural change starts at the state and local levels. Help us flip the Michigan State House blue and give Governor Whitmer one chamber to work with! You can also donate to help flip Michigan blue.
