REGISTER VOTERS IN ARIZONA WITH SWING LEFT: Join Swing Left volunteers to register voters in Phoenix over a variety of dates. Voter turn out will make all the difference in this swing state.

1/25: Sister District 2020 Kickoff: 2-4pm, Sylvan Oaks Library, 6700 Auburn Boulevard, Citrus Heights. Come hear a local candidate – Tracie Stafford, Democratic primary candidate for Assembly District 9 (Elk Grove, Galt, Lodi, South Sacramento) – speak on the issues facing new political candidates for state offices. And to help you ease into the New Year’s political activities – we’ll be writing postcards to Georgia (so easy!).

Every Sunday from now until the 2020 election, OWL, Mighty Oaks, and other progressive groups will be working to Get Out The Vote for progressives. Currently, they are writing postcards for Sister District and Flip the West, and letters for Vote Forward, the Swing Left voter registration project.

Write postcards to young “primary skipping” Democrats in CA-50 to turn them out for the March primary. This is the district currently held by Republican Duncan Hunter, currently indicted on charges including conspiracy, wire fraud, and campaign finance violations. The primary has become a Republican free-for-all in this very conservative district, and CA could end up with two Republicans at the top of the ticket in November. Let’s get those young Democrats to the polls in order to get a Democrat on the ballot in the general!

1/29: See(d)ing the Big Picture: A Webinar Series about Defeating Trump: On-line webinar, 6pm. Presented by Seed the Vote. Part 1 of this educational series will focus on Trumpism: the background to Trumpism’s ascent to power, the racist authoritarian state that Trumpist forces are trying to create, and the Trump coalition and its glue. We’ll also discuss why seeding the vote in Arizona will be crucial to growing the movements we need.
