NO KINGS SACRAMENTO: LOGISTICS

We expect a huge crowd at the CA Capitol on March 28, so come prepared.

  1. EVENT TIMES: Our event officially starts at 11:30am and runs until 3pm, but it has two “phases.”  Basically, from 11:30am – 1pm, we will have time to visit tables, candidates and action centers and to listen to some great music. Speakers will present from 1pm – 3pm.
  2. PARKING: Parking is at a premium around the Capitol, so we encourage people to park at a distance and/or walk, rideshare, or take public transit.
  3. LIMITED MOBILITY: The event is ADA accessible (flat ground, concrete paths), but with these large crowds, we know it can be challenging for folks with limited mobility. We will have ADA toilets available on 10th St. and a tent with chairs for those with limited mobility.
  4. OTHER MARCHES: There is a march coming across the Tower Bridge from West Sacramento organized by Indivisible Yolo. They will arrive at the Capitol at 1pm. There is also a Cesar Chavez march going from Cesar Chavez Park to Southside Park that will pass by our event at around 12noon. One of our Coffee Klatches is organizing a Visibility Walk to our event where you can park at a distance and walk with friends to the event, about 1 mile. Register here  for Coffee Klatch Visibility Walk
  5. WEATHER: Please make sure to bring snacks, WATER and sunscreen and wear a HAT. Please eat before you come – people pass out with low blood sugar every time. We will have water available, but it is very important to stay hydrated and protected from the sun, even if the day is not terribly hot. Our event is running from 11:30am – 3pm, the hottest part of the day. Use good sense. Let’s keep those 911 calls at a minimum!
  6. SIGNS: We love your creative signs – just keep them safe! NO FLAGPOLES and handles on signs must be shorter than 18 inches and less that 1/4 inch thick. We don’t want anything that could be used as a weapon or even look like it.
  7. NON-VIOLENCE: A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
