Happy New Year!
This New Year is a special one. 2017 was the year we learned how to come together and make our voices heard. But 2018 is even more important. This is the year we strike back. Winning the midterm elections is our top priority this year. Any Member of Congress who voted to destroy the Affordable Care Act should be afraid. And if they also supported Trump’s larcenous tax bill, they should be doubly afraid. We are going to make calls. We are going to knock on doors. We are going to write postcards. And most of all, we are going to vote to preserve America’s democracy and restore America’s dignity. By the end of this year, if we all stick together and work as hard as we can, hundreds of elected officials who support Trump will be kicked out of office. So let’s get to work! January Meeting Our meeting this month will be held on Wednesday, January 17th at 7:00 p.m. We have a very special guest. State Senator Scott Weiner will be talking to us about some of the big legislative priorities on the State level for 2018. Senator Weiner, who represents San Francisco and parts of the Bay Area, was a co-sponsor of a number of bills that Indivisible Sacramento supported last year. Our meetings are always the third Wednesday of every month. We meet in Room 10 at Sierra2 Center, 2791 24th Street, Sacramento. Women’s March For many of us, last year’s Women’s March was the moment when we realized we had the power to fight back against the Trump Administration’s assault on democracy. Across America and the world, we shared a moment of hope at the beginning of a dark year. It’s time to do it again! The march will be held on January 20th. For details, check out the Sacramento march’s website. California Away Team Of course, you don’t have to wait for our next meeting or for the Women’s March to get out and make a difference. California Away Team is reaching out to voters who skipped the last midterm election to make sure they don’t skip this one. They’ll be canvassing in the eastern suburbs on Sunday, January 14th.
