Weekly Update – 11/30/18
Hello, friends.
This is it. One more week to go. Next week at this time, we’ll be watching election results pour in, and we’ll know whether we worked hard enough. Let’s make sure we don’t have any regrets. Let’s spend this last week reaching out to as many voters as we can. Voter Outreach Opportunities CAL AWAY IN DISTRICT 4 California Away Team is giving it everything they’ve got this weekend. They’ll be out in force on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday knocking on the doors of unreliable Democratic voters and making sure they turn up to vote for Jessica Morse. The only poll that has been released shows Morse within 4 points of Trump’s ally Tom McClintock. It’s the best chance we’ve had in over a decade to take back this district, so make sure you give California Away Team some help! PHONE BANKS FOR DEMS If you’d rather make phone calls, no problem. Organize, Win, Legislate and the Sacramento County Democratic Party is hosting phone banks on Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30, Saturday from 10:00 – 4:00, and Sunday from 12:00 – 6:00. Just bring a cell phone and a laptop, and you can help out Democratic candidates across the country, including Jacky Rosen, Andrew Gillum, and Beto O’Rourke. The address is 1033 S Street. Walk right in! MODESTO CANVASSING Or maybe you’re up for a bit of a drive? Josh Harder is running a tough race against incumbent Jeff Denham, who betrayed his constituents this term by voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act and to slash taxes on billionaires. If you can make it to Modesto, they can use your help every day through Election Day. Volunteers are needed to knock on doors and get out the vote. Help flip the House of Representatives and punish a cowardly Trump-supporting Congressman at the same time. Win-win! ADOPT A VOTE CENTER Our Adopt a Vote Center Project is going very well. We would love it if you could drop off treats and baked goods (and also helium balloons) for voters and volunteers on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Election Night Party When it’s all over, we’ll want to relax. Stop by Kupros Craft House (on 21st Street in Midtown) for our Election Night Party. We’ve reserved the second story so we can watch the election results together. You can also enjoy our taco bar, and maybe a drink or two. If you can make it, please RSVP on our EventBrite page (password is “bluewave”). No admission ticket is required, but we do want to get an estimated headcount, so the RSVP is appreciated. Immigration Actions In the meantime, please remember to visit our website frequently for updates, including our Daily Actions/Immigration page. Urgent actions right now include a request for public comments on a proposed federal rule change that could allow the administration to continue detaining children indefinitely. Visit the page for details and take action today. |
