Weekly Update – 4/29
Come out and march for science this weekend! If you’re upset at the way the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress are systematically ignoring scientists, if you’re just plain worried that Global Warming will ruin our planet, or if you just want an excuse to get outside on an early May afternoon, you should show up and join the crowd this Saturday. The March for Science starts at River Walk Park in West Sacramento at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday (May 4th). But this march has a twist – there is a fundraising Pub Crawl immediately afterward (starting at 2:30)! Check out the march website for details on the march. You can find information about the Pub Crawl on Eventbrite. The march is free, but there is a cost for the Pub Crawl. Indivisible Pledge The Presidential election will be just one of thousands of important elections next year, but it’s a big one. We’ve heard from a lot of people who worry whether progressives will be united behind the candidate who is chosen to oppose Trump. Indivisible is committed to unity, and that’s why the national organization recently unveiled the Indivisible Pledge. Nine presidential candidates have already taken the pledge to hold a positive, constructive primary, unite behind the winner, and work hard to beat Trump. You can take the pledge too! Just visit Indivisible’s pledge site and read all about it. Next Meeting Our meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month. Our next one will be on May 15th at 7:00. The location is Room 10, Sierra2 Center for the Arts and Community, 2791 24th Street. Hope you can make it! Website Finally, remember to check our website often. You can find a wealth of information there, including all of our upcoming events. And there’s also a link to donate if you would like to help us with our expenses. |
